Association of Late-Deafened Adults, Boston Chapter is delighted to invite you to attend our April Meeting featuring Dr. Susan V. Rezen, Ph.D on

"Coping With Hearing Loss: For Adults and Their Families"

Worcester State College
Ghosh Science & Technology Center
486 Chandler Street
Worcester MA 01602

The speaker, Susan V. Rezen, Ph.D., is an audiologist and a professor of audiology at Worcester State College where she teaches and directs the audiology clinic. After earning her master's degree at Purdue University and doctorate at Syracuse University, she has worked in rehabilitation centers, hearing clinics, and ENT offices. Dr. Rezen has presented papers both nationally and internationally, and has been invited to work in several foreign countries. Her book, Coping With Hearing Loss: For Adults and Their Families, is about her primary interest, that of helping adults with hearing loss.

This presentation will focus on one of the most important, yet underutilized, resources for those with hearing loss, their significant others. Whether it is a spouse, a child, a friend, or a companion, these people can make the difference between coping with hearing loss and having a quality lifestyle or giving in to the disability. A hearing loss is not "mine" or "yours:" it is "our" issue. Bring your significant others, or pass along the information to them.

Topics will include:

• simulations of hearing loss
• emotions of hearing loss
• hearing loss and relationships
• analysis of communication breakdown
• solutions to breakdown
• clear speech as a solution

Please RSVP to Linda Sakin at 508-620-1148 (voice/relay).
Refreshments will be served and CART will be provided.
